Clogging of Injector Nozzle of Caterpillar 0R-3002 Causes Engine Flameout

A hydropower station in Yunnan found that the Caterpillar generator set equipped with 0R-3002 diesel injectors often stalled during operation, which seriously affected the stable power supply of the hydropower station. After professional testing, the fault was caused by the clogging of the injector nozzle.

The maintenance technicians disassembled the 0R-3002 injectors and found that the nozzle holes were completely blocked by carbon deposits and impurities, and the fuel could not be injected into the cylinder, leading to engine flameout. The reason for the clogging was that the generator set used low-quality diesel fuel, and the fuel filter was not replaced regularly, resulting in impurities and carbon deposits entering the injectors and blocking the nozzles.

The maintenance team cleaned the nozzle holes of the 0R-3002 injectors with a professional cleaning agent and ultrasonic cleaning equipment, replaced the fuel filter, and used qualified diesel fuel. After maintenance, the generator set no longer stalled, and the operation was stable. The maintenance personnel reminded that using qualified diesel fuel and regularly replacing the fuel filter are the key to preventing the clogging of Caterpillar 0R-3002 injector nozzles.
