News Case 1: Clogged Nozzles Cause Power Loss in Caterpillar Injector 0R-0471/0R0471
Recently, a construction company in Guangdong reported that three of its Caterpillar excavators equipped with 0R-0471 (universal number 0R0471) diesel injectors experienced severe power loss and increased fuel consumption during operation, seriously affecting the progress of the construction project. After the maintenance team arrived at the site for inspection, it was found that the fault was caused by severe clogging of the injector nozzles.
The maintenance technicians first used a professional diagnostic instrument to detect the injectors and found that the injection flow rate of the 0R-0471 injectors was only 65% of the standard value, and the injection pressure was unstable. After disassembling the injectors, it was observed that there was a large amount of carbon deposits and impurity deposits at the nozzle holes, which blocked the fuel injection channel. According to the on-site investigation, the construction site uses low-quality diesel fuel, and the fuel filter has not been replaced for a long time, resulting in impurities and colloids in the fuel entering the injectors, gradually forming deposits and blocking the nozzles. In addition, the excavators have been working continuously in high-temperature and dusty environments for a long time, which also accelerates the carbon deposition of the injectors.
The maintenance team adopted ultrasonic cleaning technology to thoroughly clean the nozzle holes and internal components of the 0R-0471 injectors, and replaced the aging O-rings and fuel filters. After reassembly and debugging, the injection flow rate and pressure of the injectors returned to the standard range, and the excavators resumed normal operation. The maintenance technicians reminded that for Caterpillar injectors such as 0R-0471 and 0R0471, it is necessary to use qualified diesel fuel and replace the fuel filter regularly to avoid nozzle clogging and extend the service life of the injectors.
