Solenoid Valve Failure of Caterpillar Injector 0R-0471 Leads to Failure to Start
Recently, a construction site in Henan encountered a failure that a Caterpillar excavator could not start. After inspection, it was found that the fault was caused by the solenoid valve failure of the 0R-0471 (universal number 0R0471) diesel injectors. The excavator had been parked for half a month due to the suspension of the construction project, and it could not start normally when it was restarted.
The maintenance technicians first checked the power supply and line of the injector, and found that the power supply was normal, but there was no response when the solenoid valve of the 0R-0471 injector was energized. By measuring the resistance of the solenoid valve with a multimeter, it was found that the resistance value was 0 ohms, indicating that the solenoid valve coil was short-circuited. Further inspection found that the internal moisture of the injector caused corrosion of the solenoid valve coil because the excavator was parked in a humid environment for a long time, and the waterproof seal of the injector was damaged.
The maintenance team replaced the solenoid valve of the 0R-0471 injector with an original part, repaired the waterproof seal, and carried out anti-corrosion treatment on the injector surface. After reassembly, the excavator started normally. The maintenance experts suggested that when Caterpillar injectors such as 0R-0471 and 0R0471 are parked for a long time, they should be stored in a dry and ventilated environment, and the waterproof performance should be checked regularly to avoid solenoid valve failure caused by moisture corrosion.
