Abnormal Injection Timing of Caterpillar Injector 0R-3002 Causes Engine Vibration
A logistics company reported that its Caterpillar heavy-duty trucks equipped with 0R-3002 diesel injectors had obvious engine vibration and abnormal noise during idling, and the exhaust pipe emitted black smoke, which seriously affected the driving safety and environmental protection performance of the vehicles. After professional testing, the fault was determined to be abnormal injection timing of the 0R-3002 injectors.
The maintenance technicians used CATET diagnostic software to read the engine data and found that the injection timing of the 0R-3002 injectors deviated by 0.8ms from the standard value, which led to insufficient fuel combustion and uneven power output of the engine, thus causing vibration and black smoke. The root cause of the problem is that the injector was not calibrated in time after being disassembled and maintained last time, and the ECU could not accurately control the injection timing. In addition, the wear of the injector's internal needle valve also affected the stability of the injection timing.
The maintenance team re-calibrated the 0R-3002 injectors through professional equipment, adjusted the injection timing to the standard range, and replaced the worn needle valve偶件. After debugging, the engine vibration and abnormal noise disappeared, and the exhaust smoke returned to normal. The maintenance personnel reminded that after disassembling and maintaining Caterpillar injectors such as 0R-3002, it is necessary to carry out professional calibration to ensure the accuracy of injection timing and avoid engine faults.
